The Town of
Henderson
was an unsewered community with approximately 2,000 residents and a median household income below the state's average. Many of the on-site septic systems were inadequate or failing, making a wastewater treatment and collection system a necessity. The $4.2 million project was funded with a combination of loans and grants from CWSRF, RUS, and CDBG, as well as a hardship grant, allowing the town to lower user fees to $25 per month.
GSA prepared a Facility Plan for the Town of
Henderson
, which shows that a conventional gravity collection system with sanitary sewer pump stations to transport the wastewater to a Sequential Batch Reactor treatment plant to be the most cost effective system for the Town. The design requirements for the treatment system for the Town were compounded by strict effluent limits such as ammonia at no greater than 2 parts-per-million and no measurable chlorine. Design of the system has been completed and, the Town is proceeding to acquire pump station and treatment plant sites so that the construction of the facilities can be scheduled. The Town of
Henderson
was awarded the 2006 PISES (Performance and Innovation in the State Revolving Fund Creating Environmental Success) Award given by the USEPA Region 6 and LADEQ. |
